The University of Southern Maine's Department of Public Safety is seeking a Police Specialist to perform law enforcement, community policing, and security services with a focus on problem solving. You will work in a team that serves the campus community and reports to the shift sergeant.

Required qualifications include being a certified law enforcement officer, at least three years of experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Class C Maine driver’s license.

This is a 40-hour per week position on a schedule that is determined by unit seniority and shift bid, with overtime opportunities. The starting pay is $37.41 per hour, plus shift and specialty differentials when applicable

Police Specialists perform duties similar to a Police Officer, including law enforcement, community policing, solving complex community/campus problems, and security service delivery, plus they have specialist responsibilities involving leading the department's investigatory processes and providing subject matter expertise. Police Specialists report to the shift sergeant.
