Job summary

The Gila River Indian Community in Sacaton, AZ is seeking a Police Sergeant to supervise patrol officers and detectives, manage schedules, and oversee specialized units. This is a full-time Regular position within the Gila River Police Department.

Minimum qualifications include extensive supervisory experience, strong knowledge of criminal law, and the ability to coordinate with federal, state, and tribal agencies. Excellent leadership and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of sixty (60) semester hours from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five (5) years professional experience as a Police Officer; OR seven (7) years’ experience as a Police Officer.

Responsibilities

• Supervise sworn law enforcement staff involved in patrol, investigations, crime prevention, community relations and related services; supervise dispatch, records, and property/evidence as assigned.
• Prepare and manage briefings; assign patrol beats; conduct training and evaluate personnel; complete performance evaluations.
• Respond to major crimes and emergencies; establish incident command; coordinate with other agencies.
• Participate in budget development and administration; assist with grant applications.
• Review incident reports and ensure completeness and timeliness; prepare staff reports and correspondence.
