Job summary

Gila River Indian Community’s Gila River Police Department in Sacaton, AZ is seeking a Public Safety Telecommunicator II to operate CAD and multi-channel radios, dispatch emergency resources, and provide essential instructions to callers. This full-time role requires shift work, nights, weekends, and holidays, with a hourly pay range of $25.47–$30.72.

Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and two years in public safety dispatching, plus certifications and passing tests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in public safety dispatching.
• Proficiency with CAD and radio dispatch systems; knowledge of CAD masking and messaging preferred.
• Ability to operate GPS and GIS tools and maintain accurate reference files.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate responses of multiple agencies and information between responders.
• Monitor on-scene status and dispatch additional resources as needed.
• Provide caller instructions to ensure safety until EMS arrival; handle emergency calls.
• Interview callers to determine nature and location of emergencies; use CAD rules.
• Dispatch fire, police, ambulance and other units via radio and CAD.
• Maintain calm communications with diverse callers and conduct safety checks.
