Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to subordinate officers, ensuring adherence to departmental rules and regulations.
  • Law Enforcement Duties: Conduct patrols, enforce laws, respond to calls for service, and make arrests, maintaining order and safety within our jurisdiction.
  • Investigative Support: Initiate and conduct investigations into criminal activity, gather evidence, and prepare cases for prosecution, collaborating with internal and external partners as needed.
  • Administrative Oversight: Review officer paperwork and reports, ensure compliance with court subpoenas and training requirements, and monitor officers' activities and schedules.
  • Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with community members, resolve conflicts, and address concerns to foster trust and cooperation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification: Possess Georgia P.O.S.T. Law Enforcement Officer certification and maintain Georgia Basic Peace Officer Certification.
  • Experience: Have at least five years of continuous full-time service as a P.O.S.T. certified Police Officer, including one year as a Corporal with the Thomaston Police Department or equivalent experience.
  • Supervisory Skills: Demonstrate strong leadership abilities, communication skills, and the ability to resolve problems effectively.
  • License and Record: Hold a valid Georgia driver’s license and maintain a clean motor vehicle record, with successful completion of background checks and screenings.
  • POST Certifications: Possess P.O.S.T. Intermediate and Advanced Certifications, with FTO (Field Training Officer) certification preferred.
