The City of Peoria is recruiting for a Police Recruit to join the Peoria Police Department. The role focuses on learning department operations and training through the Police Academy, with testing dates and prerequisites provided during the application period.
Ideal candidates demonstrate teamwork, strong customer service, and commitment to community safety. Applicants will complete required AZPOST activities and pursue certification as part of the academy intake.
At least 21 years old by time of academy graduation
Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
Be able to pass a police background check
Be able to pass a polygraph test
Be able to obtain an AZPOST certification
Possess or able to obtain a valid AZ Driver's License.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for law enforcement and making a positive impact on the community, as well as committed to teamwork and delivering excellent customer service. The Police Recruit position within the Police Department performs the following tasks:
Learn operations of the Police Department first‑hand through observation and participation in a wide variety of police activities.
Serve in a training capacity while attending the Police Academy.

Below is information about the testing process.
You are required to visit https://my.azpost.gov to create a profile and complete the AZPOST Personal History Form. You will be required to submit your AZPOST PH User ID Number prior to the testing date.
Appropriate attire for the entire testing date is physical fitness attire.
The physical test consists of the following events.
1.5 mile run – 14 minutes 40 seconds
Push‑ups in 1 minute – 31
Sit‑ups in 1 minute – 34
If an applicant does not pass the physical but are within 5 push‑ups or sit‑ups and within 2 minutes of the run, they will be allowed to take the written test. If applicants are not, they will be dismissed from the test and are eligible to retest during our next recruitment.
Though not required, join our staff for a workout to ensure you’re physically prepared for not only the test, but also the Academy!

The written test has a maximum time of 3 hours.
Applicants that pass the physical and written tests are eligible to be scheduled for an oral board. Dates for the oral board are listed below and may be conducted virtually, if you live out of state.
