Qualifications

• Must possess a Basic Police Certification at time of application.
• Four years of experience as a police officer or equivalent.
• CPR/First Aid Certification at time of application.
• Attend and pass a DPSST Supervisory Leadership Academy prior to end of probation.
• Serve two years as First Level-Supervisor before Supervisory Certificate is required.
• Possess AA/AS degree within 12 months of hire.
• Meet all policy, law, and DPSST standards including background and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Perform the full scope of duties of a Police Officer and supervise assigned personnel.
• Investigate criminal and traffic violations, interview witnesses, prepare reports, and testify in court.
• Direct, coach, and evaluate staff; assign, review, and ensure compliance with policies and laws.
• Lead training programs such as FTEP and reserve/volunteer initiatives.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and on-call coverage; respond to major incidents and emergencies.
• Provide guidance during critical incidents and major crime investigations.
• Review reports for accuracy and assist command with policies and operational decisions.
