The City of West Linn Police Department is seeking a Police Sergeant to lead, mentor, and collaborate with officers and community partners to uphold professionalism, service, and excellence.

As a supervisor and role model, you will plan and oversee assigned duties, ensure compliance with laws and Departmental policies, and actively participate in programs that strengthen public trust and safety within the City of West Linn.

• Establishes and maintains a positive work environment for members of the Department through policy administration, clear expectations, cooperation and respect.
• Maintains positive relationships with contacts inside and outside the City organization.
• Supervises daily patrol, investigative and administrative activities.
• Performs routine police duties such as patrols, report writing, investigations, public inquiries, courtroom testimony, CPR, AED and basic first aid at scenes.
• Supervises and evaluates the work performance of officers for compliance with policies and legal obligations.
• Reviews written reports by officers for content, accuracy and completeness.
• Participates in the interview process and provides recommendations to the Captain or Chief.

For assigned shift, assigns, supervises and performs law enforcement work as necessary to maintain public peace and order, to protect life and property, and to prevent crime. Federal, State, and local laws and City ordinances are enforced while performing supervisory, administrative, patrol, and investigative activities. Plans and supervises assigned special projects, programs, or specific special functions such as purchasing, record keeping, scheduling, training, reserve liaison, public relations, crime prevention, and general support services. • Establishes and maintains a positive work environment for members of the Department through consistent administration of Departmental policies, effective communication of expectations, cooperation and respect.
• Maintains a positive relationship with contacts specific to them and positions outside the City organization.
• .Supervises daily: patrol, investigative and administrative activities.
• Performs routine police officer duties and responsibilities such as routine patrol, report writing, investigations, responding to public inquiries, testifying in court as a witness, and performing CPR, AED and minor first aid at scenes of accidents.
• Supervises, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work performance of police officers for compliance with established Departmental policies and procedures and legal obligations.
• Receives written reports prepared by police officers and reviews for content, accuracy and completeness.
