The Town of Los Gatos is seeking a Police Officer Trainee to join the LGMS Police Department as a sponsored trainee while attending the Police Academy. This is a non-sworn, hourly position with experienced mentorship and potential eventual advancement to sworn status.

You must have a high school diploma or higher, meet unit requirements (60 semester or 90 quarter), be 21+, and provide Pellet-B and WSTB scores dated within one year.

Formación

• Must possess a high school diploma, GED, AA or 4-year college degree or higher.
• Must have at least 60 college semester units or 90 college quarter units from an accredited college.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Submit Pellet-B and WSTB scores dated within one year with a minimum passing score of 42.
• Pass a thorough background investigation including criminal history, fingerprinting, medical exam, polygraph and psych exam.
• Attend California POST approved basic academy (~26 weeks/928 hours).
• Develop skills in de-escalation, community interaction, investigation techniques, and report writing.

Responsabilidades

• Attend and successfully complete a POST-approved basic academy.
• Participate in rigorous physical, academic, and tactical training.
• Learn state and local laws, ordinances, and departmental policies.
• Develop skills in de-escalation, community interaction, investigation techniques, and report writing.
• Perform related duties as required by academy instructors and department leadership.
