Job summary

The Beaufort Police Department is seeking a dedicated officer to perform a full range of general law enforcement duties. You will patrol the Town by car or on foot, deter and investigate crimes, direct traffic, and assist in emergencies while upholding department policies and state and federal law.

This role may include assignment as a School Resource Officer (SRO) and participation in crime prevention programs.

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of state and federal laws, local ordinances and police procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
• Capable of working in variable environments and conditions.

Responsibilities

• Patrol streets by car or on foot and deter crime.
• Respond to calls, investigate disturbances and enforce laws.
• Direct traffic, perform parking control, and assist with emergencies.
• Possibly serve as School Resource Officer (SRO) and provide crime prevention guidance.
• Prepare activity records and reports; maintain records system.
