Job summary

The City of Greer is seeking a School Resource Officer to serve in the Police Department. The officer will perform patrol and specialized SRO duties, present law-related programs, and coordinate with school staff to ensure safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include instructional duties at schools, student and parent engagement, and maintaining program records while upholding professional standards and community trust.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2+ years of Law Enforcement experience or the equivalent.
• Requires SCCJA Class 1 certification as a law enforcement officer.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Must be a certified School Resource Officer.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties as a Police Officer and specialized School Resource Officer.
• Instructs specialized, short-term programs at schools and other locations.
• Coordinates activities with principals and staff and seeks guidance prior to enactment.
• Develops and presents materials on law, duties, and the role of officers to students.
• Maintains records of the SRO program and attends relevant hearings.
• Engages with students, parents, and staff to address law enforcement or safety concerns.
• Participates in community events and stays updated on policy changes.
