Job summary

The City of Owensboro Police Department seeks applicants for a police officer position. A packet with test session options, test sites, mandatory forms and further information will be emailed to applicants at a later date.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be a US citizen and hold a valid driver's license.
• Minimum age 21 by test date (September 3, 2027).
• Education or equivalent as specified: an Associate’s degree or equivalent hours, or military/law enforcement experience.
• Shall not be convicted felon nor be guilty of 3+ Class B misdemeanors.
• Shall not have used illegal drugs within 12 months of anticipated hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provides law enforcement for the Owensboro Police Department to ensure safe, productive city services.
• Patrols assigned beat on foot or in/on appropriate police vehicle to control traffic, prevent crime, and arrest violators.
• May be assigned to other units as well.
