Duties
- You will perform duties as an FTO and instruct new police officers in their specific tasks and techniques, providing written instructions, referencing M1 trellis, and supplies to assist in instruction.
- You will provide on-the-job training to new police officers in accordance with the FTO program and establish procedures and practices.
- You will monitor trainees' progress and make recommendations for improvement.
- You will ensure new police officers perform work according to 10 DCPENMEN 1 guidelines and make recommendations for improvement.
- You will make on-the-spot decisions on unusual incidents, monitor field activities, and provide technical guidance, assistance, and instruction to new officers.
- You will check on work in progress, review Incident Reports for accuracy, and annotate discrepancies or concerns.
- You will answer questions from new police officers regarding procedures, policies, and directives.
- You will be responsible for ensuring trainees are receiving training and are current on all qualifications.
- You will respond to and investigate complaints while enforcing federal laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and Marine Corps regulations and directives.
- You will respond to emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service during your watch.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Males born after 12-31-59 must register for Selective Service.
- This position involves shift work, 24-hour recall, and may interrupt breaks.
- You may be required to respond to off-base circumstances as directed.
- You must pass a physical agility test, medical evaluation, and periodic re-tests.
- You must pass weapons qualifications and re-qualifications.
- You must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a U.S. Government emergency vehicle license.
- You must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- You must carry firearms.
- This is a drug testing position requiring pre-employment and ongoing testing.
- You must use and certify in police equipment, including radar, alcohol detection, field sobriety tests, and batons.
- Persons convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors or felonies are ineligible.
- You must pass a National Agency Check and local background check.
- This position is not classified as a law enforcement officer (LEO) under FERS rules.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must maintain physical standards.
Qualifications
GS-08: Demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or above GS-07, including providing law enforcement training, responding to emergency calls, enforcing traffic laws, and conducting investigations.
GS-07: Demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or above GS-06, including knowledge of laws, regulations, law enforcement operations, and training responsibilities.
