The Muhlenberg College Department of Campus Safety is seeking a full-time police officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be committed to working with all members of our campus community, providing for the safety and security of our campus environment.

Characteristic Responsibilities:
- Community Support and Belonging: Support Muhlenberg's commitment to an inclusive campus experience where students, faculty, and staff of all backgrounds feel welcome, respected, valued, and included. Perform tasks related to community engagement and assist the public and campus community in public relations services (e.g., directions, information).
- Campus Patrol: Patrol campus and buildings, monitor safety conditions, enforce policies, conduct inspections, and provide security. Conduct fire drills and shelter-in-place drills.
- Investigations: Investigate criminal complaints, document findings, and prepare cases for authorities or campus judicial proceedings. Handle property and evidence according to policy.
- Emergency Planning and Response: Manage operations during emergencies such as fires, threats, or intruders. Coordinate with relevant departments and assist in emergency handling.
- Equipment: Maintain and safeguard issued equipment, inspect safety gear, and report issues.
- Training: Assist in training programs, complete required certifications (firearms, Act 235, etc.), and stay updated on policies.
- Additional Duties: Operate computer systems, dispatch as needed, and perform other assigned tasks.
Schedule & Benefits:
This is a full-time night-shift position, working 40 hours over four days, 09:00 PM to 07:00 AM, with every other weekend off. Muhlenberg offers competitive benefits, including holidays, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, tuition benefits, health coverage, retirement, and more.
Qualifications & Working Conditions:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Act 235 certification with firearm required; Act 120 preferred.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
- Clean criminal background and valid PA driver’s license required.
- Demonstrated commitment to an inclusive environment, strong communication skills, and flexibility with working hours.
