Jefferson is seeking a Police Captain to direct the operational activities of the Jefferson Police Department’s field operations and supervise a watch or shift on a daily basis. The role includes overseeing scheduling, deployment of personnel, and ongoing training and evaluation of officer performance.

Responsibilities involve maintaining effective protection and safety programs, ensuring communication across staff, and applying sound judgment in enforcing laws.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in specialized law enforcement.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local statutes/ordinances.
• Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques of maintaining effective protection and safety programs.
• Crisis management knowledge and ability to mitigate emergencies.
• Premises operation and safety knowledge; incident response planning.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee scheduling, deployments and payroll entries; review staff reports and performance evaluations.
• Supervise a watch or shift; provide direction and leadership to meet department goals.
• Maintain clear communication across executive, command and line staff; ensure policy adherence.
• Assess crime trends around university/hospital areas and direct policing strategy.
• Apply independent judgment in day-to-day operations; enforce city/state laws.
