Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Ten (10) years of total service as commissioned law enforcement officer.
• Minimum of three years in the rank of Lieutenant or two years in Captain or higher in a similar size agency.
• Certification by MPCTC or comparable state certification.

Responsibilities

• Represent the JHPD mission, vision and values with university stakeholders and partners.
• Provide full level law enforcement work and manage resources and overtime expenditures.
• Direct supervision of sworn staff and ensure community policing initiatives are implemented.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the assigned area and supervise Lieutenants and Sergeants.
• Coordinate with Campus Safety and Security and other agencies; engage with community members.
• Lead development of problem‑community‑oriented policing protocols and weekly crime plans.
