The Personnel Board of Jefferson County seeks Police Officers/Deputy Sheriffs to maintain law and order, respond to emergencies, patrol city routes, and enforce criminal and traffic laws. Officers must act with judgment, follow department policies, and work under supervision review.

Qualifications

• Must have no felony convictions.
• Must have no convictions punishable by imprisonment >1 year.
• MustNot be subject to a restraining order.
• Must not be prohibited from owning firearm.
• Must not be a convicted sex offender.
• Honorable discharge from US Armed Forces.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• At least 19 years old.
• Driver's license required.
• Good health and fitness for duty.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment and uniforms; maintain firearm and vehicle; attend roll call.
• Patrol designated areas; observe for suspicious activity; enforce laws; assist the public.
• Respond to service calls; assess scene; coordinate with dispatch and other units.
• Secure crime, incident, and accident scenes; preserve evidence; relay information to dispatch.
