Job summary

City of Independence in Missouri is seeking a Cadet to begin the path toward becoming an Independence Police Officer. The role rotates through various units and provides essential support to the department while you train and develop.

Applicants must be 18–20 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record, and pass multiple assessments including a written exam, physical agility test, oral board, polygraph, psychological evaluation,

Qualifications

• Applicant must be between 18 and 20 years of age to apply and cannot exceed their 21st birthday as a Cadet unless actively waiting for a Law Enforcement Academy class to begin.
• Applicant must have an interest in a career as an Independence Police Officer.
• Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license by date of application, a good driving record, pass a comprehensive written exam, physical agility test, oral board interview, polygraph exam, psychological evaluation, undergo an extensive background investigation with ability to render credible testimony in a court of law, pass a medical exam and drug screen.
