City of Independence Police Department seeks a Police Officer to patrol districts, enforce state and local laws, preserve public order, and respond to community needs with integrity and professionalism.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, pass written and physical tests, complete a POST-certified academy (Class A), and endure a thorough background investigation and medical exams.
Position coordinates within various divisions of the Police Department relating to the protection of life and property; enforce state/federal law and municipal ordinances; preserve order throughout the community; and respond to community needs.
Certified officers will be required to take a physical agility testONLY. Non-Certified officers will be required to take both a written test and a physical agility test. (Gym clothes required) Both Certified and Non-Certified applicants selected to test will be notified by e-mail of the time and location of the testing.
The Independence Police Department works with the Veterans Administration so military veterans can utilize their GI Bill. Please contact us about the details using your benefits with us. Approval of the benefits are subject to the approval by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
