City of Minneapolis is seeking Police Cadet candidates to educate and train for a future Police Officer role. The program provides department‑authorized law enforcement training and meets MP.O.ST. Board requirements to licensure.

Cadets work on-site and must commit to a two‑year employment period or reimburse tuition costs if terminated early. Applicants should possess a bachelor’s or associate’s degree, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass extensive background and medical exams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree completed by the Cadet Academy start date.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Able to pass MPST background, medical, psychological and drug tests.
• Meet Minnesota P.O.S.T. minimum selection standards.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete a law enforcement program at a department‑authorized institution to meet licensing objectives.
• When hired, Cadets will be promoted to Police Officer after successful completion of MPST requirements when a recruit academy class is scheduled.
• Cadet must commit to two years of employment with MPD following promotion or repay tuition costs.
• Failure to complete MPST requirements may result in termination.
