Job Purpose

The primary purpose of the Cadet position is to attend and satisfactorily complete the University of Texas System Police Academy, qualifying for commissioning as a peace officer of the University of Texas System. Responsible for fulfilling the academic, physical, and practical requirements of the Basic Training School of the University of Texas System Police Academy.

Training and Responsibilities

1. Participate in and complete physical training, firearms, defensive tactics, practical problem solving, and academic instruction.
2. Maintain comprehensive notebooks, prepare research papers, complete homework, and follow directives from the Police Academy staff.
3. Adhere to policies, procedures, and rules of the respective institution and the University of Texas System Police Code of Conduct.
4. Respond to emergencies, including extended hours during disasters or unusual campus events.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• U.S. Citizen, per the Texas Administrative Code.
• Pass pre-employment skills test.
