Job summary

Pacific Grove Police Department accepts applications for a non-sworn, training level position. Trainees will attend a POST basic academy and learn essential skills while performing limited duties under supervision.

During training, officers do not have police powers. Upon successful completion, they may advance to sworn status after review by the Police Chief. Evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts are possible.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state/local laws and regulations.
• Ability to react quickly in emergencies and take action.
• Observing and recalling details of incidents.
• Writing clear, accurate reports.
• Communicating clearly with diverse people.
• Must have a valid California Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Attend a POST basic academy training to gain foundational police skills.
• Work under supervision during training period.
• Assist with records, crime prevention, data collection, and transport tasks as assigned.
