The Police Department is seeking Police Academy Trainees who will train and graduate from the Police Academy to become Police Officers. Trainees perform community-based law enforcement duties under supervision and will be promoted upon successful completion of training.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma, legal authorization to work in the United States, minimum ages, and a valid California driver license with a satisfactory driving record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 20 years old at time of application and 21 by hire date.
• Valid California driver license and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, performs community-based law enforcement and crime prevention duties.
• Patrols assigned areas and responds to calls to protect life and property.
• Conducts preliminary investigations, reviews case records, collects evidence and testifies in court.
• Applies traffic control, directs and controls traffic flow, and enforces parking regulations.
