Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Designer for our Utility Services team in Hammond, IN. The role supports pole attachment programs, DSIC projects, and distribution engineering design for joint-use concepts.

Office-based with field components, and occasional travel. Requirements include 3+ years in fieldwork or related design, an associate degree or equivalent, proficiency in AutoCAD and related tools, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of fieldwork or construction/technical design experience.
• Associates degree with interest in fieldwork or surveying.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/schematics.

Responsibilities

• Identify, inspect, and record equipment and field conditions.
• Apply NESC standards and client guidelines to complete designs.
• Analyze field data and update software for design implementation.
• Use client software to support attachment permitting and design workflow.
• Communicate with clients and team to determine best engineering solutions.
• Ensure work is completed on schedule and within budget; report status.
• Collaborate with clients to determine cost-effective design options.
• Document activities to support accounting and project reporting.
