Job summary

Preferred licensure in Florida and successful completion of the AAPCC poison information certification exam.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Knowledge of basic pharmacology, toxicology and clinical patient management is required.
• Ability to educate, prioritize, triage and communicate with the public and health care professionals is essential.
• Florida licensure or certification in nursing, pharmacy, medicine, or physician's assistant preferred.
• Must sit for and pass the AAPCC poison information certification exam when eligible; three unsuccessful attempts may lead to termination.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls about known or suspected poisonings and advise on treatment/triage.
• Contribute to data collection and reporting efforts, public education programs, and research efforts.
