Job summary

University of Utah Health in Salt Lake City seeks a Specialist in Poison Information to provide expert toxicology guidance and case management for poison-related calls. You will precept PharmD students and deliver didactic lectures for the College of Pharmacy, while contributing to online resources and regional outreach.

The position requires pharmacist licensure with eligibility for Utah licensure within 4 months and SPI certification within 2 exam cycles (or ABAT diplomat).

Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacist; ability to obtain Utah licensure within 4 months.
• National SPI certification within 2 exam cycles (or ABAT diplomat).
• Knowledge of human pathophysiology, clinical pharmacology and drug information.
• Demonstrated human relation, organization and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides verbal and written clinical toxicology consultation in response to emergency and informational telephone calls and completes documentation in computerized medical record system.
• Investigates case history, researches medical literature and consults sources to provide proper treatment and triage recommendations.
• Precepts PharmD students, pharmacy residents, emergency medicine residents and fellows; delivers lectures on poisoning topics.
• Participates in outreach education activities, quality assurance and clinical research projects.
