Job summary

OU Health's South Oklahoma City Freestanding ED is seeking a Clinical Lab Scientist for the POC Lab, days PRN. Under supervision you will perform routine diagnostic tests and ensure quality and safety.

You will work with waived and nonwaived testing, maintain records, participate in QC, inventory, competency, and communicate results; require an MLT or MLS with appropriate certification; 0–3 years experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Medical Lab Technology (MLT) or aBachelor's Degree with specified science hours including chemistry and biology.
• 0–3 years of experience in a clinical or laboratory setting.
• Nationally recognized certification (ASCP, AMT, AABB, NASKL, ASCLS, HHS, ASHI, AAB, ABB, AMS, CRP, EBPH, Military or NILA preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs waived and nonwaived lab testing promptly according to policies.
• Maintains safety policies and PPE usage.
• Participates in quality assurance, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance.
• Handles specimens, labels, processing, and data entry in the lab informatics system.
• Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, and documentation of checks.
• Contributes to inventory management and annual competency assessments.
• Communicates outcomes to clinical staff and documents notifications.
• Performs proficiency testing per requirements and supports department goals.
