Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain performance standards and pursue goals, objectives, and activities that promote the mission, vision, and values of the College.
- Attend and provide instruction for all classes/modules during the semester. Be punctual and provide instruction for the complete class period; arrange for any absences in accordance with College policies.
- Develop, distribute, and post course syllabi prior to the start of each class, aligned with approved master syllabi and the Course Management System.
- Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and evaluation records and submit them to the department head or appropriate supervisor at the end of each semester.
- Adhere to all timelines for submitting grades, reporting non‑attendance, referring students for counseling, and responding to queries about students in a timely manner.
- Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, College harassment policies, and other legal requirements.
- Advise and mentor students on course progress and retention strategies; refer at‑risk students to advising or counseling.
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and supervisors, using appropriate channels within the college community.
- Complete all academic and occupational credential requirements defined by LCTC Board policies and accrediting agencies.
- Be available to students via phone or email for assignment questions/needs, responding within 24 hours on weekdays and 48 hours on weekends.
- Participate in professional development activities that enhance effectiveness (e.g., convocation, LCTC conference).
- Represent the college in a professional and positive manner.
- Adhere to College and LCTC policies and embrace college culture.
- Complete all required assignments and training prior to deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Department Specific Duties
- Evaluate present clinical facilities and meet with agency personnel to review objectives of clinical experiences.
- Supervise students in the clinical area, assist in developing critical thinking skills; out‑of‑town travel for which mileage will be reimbursed per Louisiana Travel Policy.
- May include evening or weekend instruction.
- Provide meaningful instruction in simulation lab setting (if applicable).
Required Education
An associate degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
Required Experience
A minimum of three years of nursing practice as a registered nurse, with at least one year in a medical‑surgical clinical setting. If applying for a specialty area such as OB/PEDS or MH, experience in those areas is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Candidates must have good instructional techniques, computer knowledge, a student‑centered attitude, and be well organized.
Required Licenses or Certifications
A current, unencumbered Louisiana RN license.
Preferred Experience
Teaching experience at the college level is desired.
