POSITION SUMMARY:

The PMO Manager leads the Global Corporate Services (GCS) Project Management Office (PMO) team, overseeing project/program managers who plan and execute the delivery of projects across multiple GCS departments, including IT, Finance, HR, and Legal, and the entire firm globally. As a team leader, you will foster an inclusive, high-performing culture by implementing best practices in project management and facilitating cross-functional collaboration among diverse stakeholders.

The PMO Manager will drive maturity in project execution, risk and issue management, reporting, and project portfolio management. While overseeing the PMO team, you may also directly manage individual projects from inception to completion. You will work closely with GCS leadership and other key stakeholders across the firm to ensure successful project outcomes.

Successful candidates will be well-organized self-starters, adept at managing shifting priorities and deadlines in a dynamic and highly decentralized environment. We seek collaborative individuals skilled at facilitating cross-team communication and working with various roles and work styles. Flexibility in applying project management methodologies to specific initiatives is critical. Candidates should excel at balancing the needs of leadership, stakeholders, committees, and internal clients through a consultative approach.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Programs and IT Business Operations within GCS.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and manage the PMO team, ensuring effective project management support across all GCS departments and the firm.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and managers to define, prioritize, plan, and develop projects and programs.
  • Establish/update and maintain lean project governance frameworks, processes, and tools to ensure consistency and quality in project execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement of project management processes and enhance the PMO team's ways of working.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop project managers by providing regular, meaningful feedback and training on project management best practices.
  • Mentor other teams and individuals not in project management roles on project management principles and methods, promoting their adoption in smaller teams and initiatives.
  • Directly manage projects yourself, from inception to completion, as needed.
  • Oversee the intake of new project requests, optimizing resource allocations and workload distribution within the PMO team.
  • Create or improve project management tools and templates, evaluating the need for additional tools to centralize information and project content.
  • Ensure issues and risks are managed, mitigated, and consistently communicated to stakeholders, understanding their impact on the project and other work efforts.
  • Identify, track, and report on PMO metrics to leadership.
  • Lead the development of career paths for project managers within the GCS PMO team.
  • Develop and grow the agile capabilities of the team, integrating tailored agile approaches into various projects as applicable.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • PMP certification.
  • 10+ years of progressive project management experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience managing project managers as direct reports.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in traditional/waterfall, hybrid, and agile project methodologies, techniques, and processes.
  • Experience managing large projects involving geographically diverse teams.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to collaborate with executives and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and a team of project managers simultaneously.
  • Ability to develop project managers at various levels.
  • Skilled at synthesizing complex concepts into understandable ideas and visuals.
  • Proven ability to achieve results collaboratively across functions.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptable leadership and communication style.
  • Resourceful, action-oriented, and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • High self-awareness and ability to adapt to various circumstances.
  • Professional demeanor when working with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to implement change in cultures and processes.
  • Proven influence without authority.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
