Qualifications

• Must be CNA certified and listed on the TMU registry.
• Medication aide program completion is required.
• Adhere to hygiene, safety and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Follows current standards of hygiene, safety and infection control when handling medications.
• Takes and records vital signs upon administration of medications when required.
• Recognizes the resident's right to refuse medication.
• Notifies the RN/LPN when deciding not to administer medication or treatment.
• Clarifies orders with licensed nurse if needed.
• Monitors residents who self-administer medications and reports deviations.
• Secures medication cart.
• Removes discontinued or outdated drugs from inventory.
• Recognizes and reports unsafe conditions for medication provision.
• Accurately documents medication provision.
• Recognizes and reports adverse drug reactions.
