Responsibilities

• Follows hygiene, safety and infection control with meds.
• Takes and records vital signs when administering medications.
• Recognizes resident's right to refuse medication.
• Notifies RN/LPN when not administering medication.
• Clarifies orders with licensed nurse if inaccurate/contraindicated.
• Monitors residents who self-administer medications and reports deviations.
• Secures medication cart.
• Removes discontinued or outdated drugs from inventory.
• Reports unsafe conditions for medication provision.
• Documents medication provision accurately.
• Recognizes and reports adverse reactions to medications.
• Must be CNA certified and TMU registry to qualify.

This nurse aide is eligible to work in federally certified nursing homes, intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, home health agencies, and hospices.

HIRING FOR PM SHIFT (2:00pm-10:00pm)

Key Responsibilities include:

• Follows current standards of hygiene, safety and infection control when handling, storing and disposing of medications.

• Takes and records vital signs upon administration of medications when required.

• Recognizes the resident's right to refuse medication.

• Notifies the appropriate RN/LPN when making the decision not to administer medication or treatment.

• Clarifies any order or treatment regimen believed to be inaccurate, ineffective or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed nurse (RN/LPN).

• Monitors residents who self-administer medications and report deviation from the plan of care to the licensed or registered nurse.

• Secures medication cart.

• Removes discontinued, outdated or deteriorated drugs from inventory.

• Recognizes and reports unsafe conditions for medication provision.

• Accurately documents medication provision.

• Recognizes and reports general reactions to medications.
