Job summary

21c Museum Hotels in St. Louis is seeking an engaging restaurant server to join Idol Wolf, our Spanish-inspired dining venue inside a unique art-filled property.

You will greet guests, describe menu items, and upsell courses to enhance the guest experience while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in upscale dining, strong English communication, and the ability to work flexible nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of experience in upscale dining preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Spanish food preferred.

We are seeking an engaging, enthusiastic restaurant server to join our team at Idol Wolf. You will create a vibrant and high-quality dining experience for our guests, acting as an ambassador for our Spanish-inspired menu and the unique art-filled atmosphere of 21c Museum Hotels.

General Purpose:

The Restaurant Server is an engaging and enthusiastic ambassador for the restaurant, intuiting the guest's appetites through verbal and non-verbal cues, making recommendations, and selling any item on the menu to even the most reluctant palate. The Restaurant Server works accurately, efficiently, expertly prioritizes, and works to exceed guest expectations.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Reports to work on time and ready to work scheduled shifts.
• Follows all steps of service.
• Knows descriptions and ingredients of all menu items.
• Knows all wines by the glass and at least five wines in each category on the wine list in varying price ranges and styles.
• Knows drinks names, ingredients, preparation method, appropriate glassware, and garnishes.
• Knows specialty beverages, i.e., single malt scotches, cognacs, specialty drinks, beer list, etc.
• Sells menu items to increase overall sales.
• Serves beverages and food cheerfully and efficiently.
• Ensures that the service station is properly stocked.
• Completes all posted side work.
• Maintains a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers & guests.
• Provides prompt, accurate report of all income received during shift.
• Proven ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to receive constructive feedback.
• Maintains a clean, orderly appearance in the restaurant service area.
• Assists/executes any tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Follow all proper sanitation guidelines.

• Able to work flexible hours (nights, weekends).
• Responsible, dependable, punctual.
• Basic math skills.
• Strong communication skills; must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
• Clean and professional appearance.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm for all things 21c.
• Familiarity with and ability to use POS systems.
• Must pass a background check.

Education/Formal Training:

• High school or equivalent education required.
• 2 years of experience in an upscale dining environment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Spanish foodpreferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to carry a full-service tray comfortably.
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
