Primary Responsibilities
  1. Prepare or direct the preparation of food using established procedures.
  2. Determine the required amount and type of food and supplies using production systems.
  3. Ensure the availability of supplies and food in adequate time for preparation.
  4. Learn menus, recipes, preparation, and presentation techniques.
  5. Set steam tables; serve or oversee proper serving of food for tray line or dining room.
  6. Comply with sanitation, personal hygiene, and health standards, observing proper food handling techniques.
  7. Store food properly and safely, marking date and item.
  8. Report equipment repairs and maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  9. Prepare all food following standard recipes and dietary orders.
  10. Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving times, preserving quality and appearance.
  11. Portion food for serving.
  12. Maintain daily production records.
  13. Keep the work area neat and clean; clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation.
  14. Complete food temperature checks before service.
  15. Prepare food for the next shift and following day.
  16. Work with servers to ensure guest satisfaction and resolve food service issues.
  17. Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 1-year experience cooking in a restaurant or full-service hotel.
  • Culinary school degree (2-4 years) preferred.
