Primary Responsibilities
  1. Prepare or oversee the preparation of food using established procedures.
  2. Determine required amounts and types of food and supplies using production systems.
  3. Ensure supplies and food are available in a timely manner.
  4. Learn menus, recipes, preparation, and presentation techniques.
  5. Set steam tables; serve or supervise food service for tray line or dining room.
  6. Maintain sanitation, personal hygiene, and health standards; observe proper food handling techniques.
  7. Store food safely, marking dates and items.
  8. Report equipment repairs and maintenance needs.
  9. Prepare all food respecting recipes and dietary requirements.
  10. Coordinate food production with meal times to ensure quality and presentation.
  11. Portion food for serving.
  12. Maintain daily production records.
  13. Keep work areas clean and equipment maintained.
  14. Conduct food temperature checks before service.
  15. Prepare food for upcoming shifts and days.
  16. Collaborate with servers to ensure guest satisfaction and address food service issues.
  17. Be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • At least 1 year of cooking experience in a restaurant or hotel setting.
  • Culinary school degree (2-4 years) preferred.
