Job summary

The Southeast Virginia Training Center (SEVTC) seeks a Lead Direct Support Professional for the 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. shift.

You will provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supervise staff, administer medications, and ensure safety and quality of life. This essential role requires a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and experience leading a shift. We offer comprehensive benefits and shift differentials for this PM shift.

Qualifications

• Must have an active, valid driver’s license.
• Prior experience managing or leading a shift.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Dependable, accountable, and reliable.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to work with an integrated team.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, educational/training, and supervision of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Manage staff assignments and ensure shift tasks are completed efficiently.
• Run training programs; administer medications; collect and record data and complete documentation.
• Maintain an environment supportive of individual choices, safe and nurturing for people with disabilities.
• Support daily living skills including self-help, personal hygiene, independent living, and social development.
• Monitor leisure, recreational, social activities of choice.
• May support individuals receiving emergency stabilization services.
• Drive facility vans to transport individuals.
• Respond to crises with effective management techniques and safety.
• Complete special assignments as directed by supervisors.
