Overview
You will use your mixologist talent to prepare and serve great alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at The Magnolia Houston Hotel for each guest, every time, all while enjoying the fun that each guest brings. While mixing and creating, the bartender is responsible for ensuring that all state, federal, and property-specific policies and procedures are upheld.
Responsibilities
- Embrace service with a story through creating and serving both distinctive and traditional alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests.
- Share your personal passions and knowledge of the food, services, and amenities available to guests to help them feel at home.
- Orchestrate an extraordinary guest experience by providing a fun and positive environment.
- Be an advocate of our menu offering, receive food orders at the bar, and ensure accuracy before guest delivery.
- Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promote and document orders for drinks. Mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
- Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar daily, including requisitioning and stocking all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce based on projections from the daily functions sheet.
- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
- Handle cash transactions accurately, verify charges, record transactions, and balance all moneys.
- Secure beverages, food, and equipment, deposit cash drops, and secure the bank.
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned to adhere to health standards.
- Report accidents, injuries, property damage, or loss to supervisor.
- Follow all safety and security procedures to provide a safe work environment.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance according to standards outlined in the team member handbook.
- Perform any related duties as requested by supervisor/manager.
Qualifications
- Two years of previous customer service experience, preferably in a similar setting, with knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and food service.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to deliver a fun and friendly environment during each guest interaction.
- Energetic and capable of working in a fast-paced environment that services the bar and restaurant servers.
- Food Handlers Certification, State-specific alcohol certification, and/or TIPs certification required.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- A people person who is flexible with their schedule, loves to serve others, and can multi-task while ensuring accuracy.
