Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an experienced foreman to schedule, coordinate, supervise, and lead a small work crew. The role emphasizes safety, productivity, and effective communication with management and clients.

Responsibilities include toolbox talks, incident reporting, and maintaining daily timekeeping. Prior experience as a tradesperson and OSHA-30 certification are preferred, with union affiliation possibly required depending on location.

Qualifications

• Strong planning and scheduling skills.
• Ability to handle administrative duties of position, including completion of required documents.
• Effective use of computers and other technology.
• 5+ years’ experience as a qualified tradesperson.
• Active Texas Journeyman Plumber license may be required for field supervision.
• Union membership may be required per local agreements.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, supervise, provide leadership, and ensure safety and productivity of a small work crew.
• Act as management liaison or client contact as needed.
• Facilitate a safe work culture and ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety investigations as required.
• Prepare reports and maintain foreman’s log/diary.
• Maintain work area cleanliness, organization, and tool/material readiness.
• Assign tasks, monitor progress, and adjust schedules to meet production goals.
• Assist superintendent with production progress and quality reporting.
• Oversee on-the-job training and mentoring of apprentices by journeymen.
• Ensure compliance with plans/blueprints and project specifications.
