Job summary

S.M. Lawrence Co., Inc. seeks skilled plumbers for commercial installation projects across healthcare, government, educational, and industrial sectors.

You will read blueprints, install copper, steel, PVC, CPVC, and PEX piping, and work from ladders or lifts to complete rough-ins and trim outs. Preferred candidates have 1–3 years of commercial plumbing experience, a journeyman license, and the ability to lead apprentices.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years commercial plumbing experience preferred.
  • Valid/current journeyman plumbing license preferred.
  • Medical Gas Certification, or ability to obtain, preferred.
  • Experience leading apprentices or helpers preferred.
  • OSHA 10 hour preferred.
  • Able to work from ladders and man lifts as needed.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Commercial plumbing installation from underground/rough-ins, stack out to trim outs on large scale commercial and industrial construction projects such as, healthcare, government, educational, manufacturing, data centers and others. Install hangers and supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation for water, gas, compressed air, medical gas, or other liquids. Read and interpret blueprints and building specifications required for each job site to accurately install systems. Installation of copper, steel, cast iron, PVC, CPVC, PEX, and other piping. Duties could include setting grease traps, decontamination tanks, oil interceptors, lint interceptors, utility hookups, etc. Able to work from ladders and man lifts from various heights and operate the equipment as needed. Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned.

Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications
  • 1 – 3 years of commercial plumbing experience preferred
  • Valid / current journeyman plumbing license preferred.
  • Medical Gas Certification, or ability to obtain, preferred.
  • Experience leading / coaching an apprentice and/or helper preferred.
  • OSHA 10 hour preferred.
  • Able to work from ladders and man lifts from various heights and operate the equipment as needed.
Additional Requirements
  • Must complete company specific welding, soldering and/or brazing test for employment.
  • Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills.
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, and teachable attitude.
  • Initiative; self-motivated (driven), self-starter.
  • Excellent communication and customer services skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Complies and promotes company Safety Policy
  • Must be able to work independently with and without supervision.
  • Ability to stand, squat, bend, stoop and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Familiarity with blueprint, schematic, drawings, and other equipment layout materials
  • Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening.
  • Ability to pass MVR check (if applicable) or must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a physical ability test
  • Ability to travel, as needed, for projects.
