Job summary

Prince George's County Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking a Trades Shop Supervisor (Plumbing) to oversee daily plumbing shop operations across multiple facilities. You will manage a team, coordinate maintenance projects, and ensure adherence to codes and safety standards.

The role emphasizes budgeting, staff development, procurement, and coordination with architects, engineers, and other divisions to support large-scale maintenance and capital projects.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an approved apprentice program or four years of progressively responsible experience.
• At least four years of experience, with two years leading a crew or administering trade projects.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling eight years is acceptable.
• Master license or certification in the related trade may be required.
• A valid driver's license is required with no encumbrances.
• Must pass the Commission medical examination.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and supervises daily operations of one or more skilled trades shops.
• Directs project management from initiation to completion with scheduling and budgeting.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance evaluations to staff.
• Manage the shop's operational budget and procurement processes.
• Handle personnel functions including hiring and onboarding and performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with MOSH/OSHA safety standards and PPE usage.
• Maintain records of work orders, costs, and safety compliance.

Education

4 years experience including 2 years leading a crew

Equivalent combination totaling 8 years

Master license or certification

Valid driver's license

Pass Commission medical examination
