Job summary

EMCOR Group, Inc. is seeking a Plumbing Estimator to prepare and coordinate plumbing and piping estimates for commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and public works projects in California.

The role requires interpreting plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop winning quotation strategies. Ideal candidates will have 4+ years of plumbing estimating experience, a broad understanding of plumbing systems, strong technical writing skills, and the ability to read drawings.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of plumbing estimating experience in commercial construction environments.
• Broad understanding of plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, medical gas, plumbing fixtures, water heating systems, pumps, backflow prevention systems, and site utility piping.
• Strong technical writing skills and the ability to read and interpret drawings and/or construction plans are required for success.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate complete plumbing and piping estimates on large and small commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and public works projects.
• Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements for quotation strategies.
• Learn to effectively utilize estimating documentation and electronic programs in preparation of the bill of materials and labor estimates.

Job Summary

Responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of complete plumbing and piping estimates on large and small commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and public works projects as required by the client's plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Actively gather information for each estimating job by talking directly with the account manager, the end user, the engineering team, the estimating team, vendors and/or other sources of information.
• Ability to interpret field conditions to determine project direction and able to provide costs associated with large scale mechanical retrofits without the use of drawing, plans or specifications.
• Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements were provided for formulating quotation strategies.
• Work with estimating, engineering and sales departments to analyze customer requirements and develop a winning strategy for every quotation.
• Understand and have a working knowledge of the California Mechanical Code and local municipal codes.
• Identify optimum cost/availability for equipment, materials and labor estimated in the quotation process.
• Learn to effectively utilize all estimating documentation and electronic programs in preparation of the bill of material and labor estimates for all quotations.
• Complete all documentation on time and in an organized manner consistent with company policies and management directives.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of plumbing estimating experience in commercial construction environments.
• Broad understanding of plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, medical gas, plumbing fixtures, water heating systems, pumps, backflow prevention systems, and site utility piping.
• Experience with tooling, machining, fabrication, or construction environments and industries.
• Strong technical writing skills and the ability to read and interpret drawings and/or construction plans are required for success.
