Job summary

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy is seeking a plumbing estimator to prepare and coordinate complete estimates for large and small commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and public works projects. The role requires 4+ years of plumbing estimating experience and a strong ability to interpret drawings and code requirements in California.

• Broad understanding of domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, medical gas, plumbing fixtures, water heating systems, pumps, backflow prevention, and site utility piping.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and construction plans required for success.
• Experience with tooling, machining, fabrication, or construction environments and industries.

Responsibilities

• Actively gather information for each estimating job by talking with the account manager, end user, engineering team, estimating team, vendors and other sources.
• Interpret field conditions to determine project direction and costs for large mechanical retrofits without drawings or specs.
• Interpret customer drawings, specifications and requirements for quotation strategies.

• Ensure all documentation is completed on time and per company policies.

Job Summary

Responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of complete plumbing and piping estimates on large and small commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and public works projects as required by the client's plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Actively gather information for each estimating job by talking directly with the account manager, the end user, the engineering team, the estimating team, vendors and/or other sources of information.
• Ability to interpret field conditions to determine project direction and able to provide costs associated with large scale mechanical retrofits without the use of drawing, plans or specifications.
• Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements were provided for formulating quotation strategies.
• Work with estimating, engineering and sales departments to analyze customer requirements and develop a winning strategy for every quotation.
• Understand and have a working knowledge of the California Mechanical Code and local municipal codes.
• Identify optimum cost/availability for equipment, materials and labor estimated in the quotation process.
• Learn to effectively utilize all estimating documentation and electronic programs in preparation of the bill of material and labor estimates for all quotations.
• Complete all documentation on time and in an organized manner consistent with company policies and management directives.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of plumbing estimating experience in commercial construction environments.
• Broad understanding of plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, medical gas, plumbing fixtures, water heating systems, pumps, backflow prevention systems, and site utility piping.
• Experience with tooling, machining, fabrication, or construction environments and industries.
• Strong technical writing skills and the ability to read and interpret drawings and/or construction plans are required for success.
