Job summary

Mesa Energy Systems, Inc. is seeking a skilled plumbing estimator to prepare and coordinate estimates for commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and public works projects in California.

You will gather inputs from managers and teams, interpret field conditions, read drawings, and develop quotation strategies while ensuring compliance with the California Mechanical Code. Qualifications

• 4+ years of plumbing estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Broad understanding of domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, medical gas, plumbing fixtures, water heating systems, pumps, backflow prevention systems, and site utility piping.
• Strong technical writing skills and ability to read and interpret drawings and/or construction plans.

Responsibilities

• Actively gather information for each estimating job by talking with the account manager, end user, engineering and estimating teams, vendors, and sources.
• Interpret field conditions to determine project direction and costs for large-scale mechanical retrofits without drawings or specifications.
• Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements for quotation strategies.
• Work with estimating, engineering and sales to develop winning quotation strategies.
• Understand and apply the California Mechanical Code and local municipal codes.
• Identify optimum cost/availability for equipment, materials and labor in the quotation process.
• Utilize estimating documentation and electronic programs to prepare bill of materials and labor estimates.
• Complete all documentation on time in accordance with company policies.

Job Summary

Responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of complete plumbing and piping estimates on large and small commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and public works projects as required by the client's plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Actively gather information for each estimating job by talking directly with the account manager, the end user, the engineering team, the estimating team, vendors and/or other sources of information.
• Ability to interpret field conditions to determine project direction and able to provide costs associated with large scale mechanical retrofits without the use of drawing, plans or specifications.
• Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements were provided for formulating quotation strategies.
• Work with estimating, engineering and sales departments to analyze customer requirements and develop a winning strategy for every quotation.
• Understand and have a working knowledge of the California Mechanical Code and local municipal codes.
• Identify optimum cost/availability for equipment, materials and labor estimated in the quotation process.
• Learn to effectively utilize all estimating documentation and electronic programs in preparation of the bill of material and labor estimates for all quotations.
• Complete all documentation on time and in an organized manner consistent with company policies and management directives.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of plumbing estimating experience in commercial construction environments.
• Broad understanding of plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, medical gas, plumbing fixtures, water heating systems, pumps, backflow prevention systems, and site utility piping.
• Experience with tooling, machining, fabrication, or construction environments and industries.
• Strong technical writing skills and the ability to read and interpret drawings and/or construction plans are required for success.
