The City of Houston is seeking a Code Enforcement Inspector for the Houston Permitting Center's Plumbing Inspections division. This role enforces plumbing codes, reviews plans, conducts inspections of construction and revisions, and issues notices or citations as needed.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of related inspection experience; valid Texas driver’s license preferred; licenses such as State Board of Plumbing Examiners, ICBO/IAPMO, ICC/IAPMO are advantageous.

Formación

• Requires High School Diploma or G.E.D. and up to 18 months of education or training in the area of inspection to be performed.
• Two years of journey level or skilled experience related to the area of inspection to be performed are required.
• May require a valid Texas Driver's License and be in compliance with City of Houston policies on driving (AP 2-2).
• The following certificates/licenses are preferred to be obtained within 11 months of employment: Licensed by the State Board of Plumbing Examiners; and ICBO or IAPMO Plumbing Inspector Certificate.
• Preference will be given to applicants who are licensed by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners with Med Gas Endorsement; ICBO or IAPMO plumbing Inspector Certificate; ICC and/or IAPMO certifications; and fluent in Spanish.

Responsabilidades

• Coordinates enforcement and application of codes, ordinance and technical specifications for nonstructural plumbing facilities, structures, and systems to ensure plan compliance.
• Prepares, conducts and reviews inspections including tunnels, manholes, shaft sites and new construction for compliance with specifications; identifies problems and recommends solutions.
• Prepares and serves correction notices or citations; meets with the public, contractors and professionals to respond to inquiries.
• Maintains filing systems and documents with photographs taken during inspections; documents plumbing plans, drawings and reports.
