Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center is seeking an experienced Facilities Plumber to maintain and repair a wide range of essential systems, including steam, water, medical gases and asset documentation. You will ensure compliance with AHJ policies and operate the CMMS to log activities.

Ideal candidates have 3 years of relevant plumbing experience, a valid license, and certifications such as ASSE 6040 and backflow testing.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years job related experience in residential or industrial plumbing and mechanical trades required.
  • Technical school training in the plumbing arena and industrial plumbing experience are preferred.
  • ASSE 6040 certification, Backflow preventer tester certification and asbestos abatement certifications required or the ability to obtain these certifications.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Must pass a written test and hands on skills demonstration with a score of 75% or greater.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and document steam and condensate systems, natural gas, water, medical gas and distilled water systems.
  • Repair, upgrade, test and document all related system components as required by AHJ and HMC policy.
  • Operate the computerized maintenance management system to record maintenance activities.

Job description

Penn State Health -Hershey Medical Center

Responsible for the integrity, maintenance, testing, repair, modification and documentation of the facilities steam distribution systems, condensate return systems, natural gas distribution, hot and cold domestic water systems, medical gas delivery systems, distilled and de-ionized water systems, effluent and waste piping, and fire sprinkler systems. Responsible to repair, maintain, upgrade, test and document all related system components as required by AHJ and or HMC policy. Must interact with and operate the computerized maintenance management system to record all maintenance activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years job related experience in residential or industrial plumbing and mechanical trades required.
  • Technical school training in the plumbing arena and industrial plumbing experience are preferred.
  • ASSE 6040 certification, Backflow preventer tester certification and asbestos abatement certifications required or the ability to obtain these certifications.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and push/pull up to 800 pounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S)
  • Operation of tractors, forklifts, high lifts and other types of equipment preferred.
