Penn State Health - Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for an evening shift. This full-time role involves preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable operations across the healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Mechanical training and 1 year hands on job related experience in repair of stationary or mobile equipment required.
  • Must have customer service skills and strong communication skills; and have initiative, ingenuity and drive to keep abreast of constantly changing technology.
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude and computer knowledge.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments; and use basic mathematics equivalent to 1 to 3 years applied trades training.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Must pass a written test and hands on skills demonstration with a minimum passing score of 75%.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations throughout the healthcare environment. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains equipment including pumps, motors, compressors, conveyor systems, automated doors, natural gas engines, and other stationary mechanical equipment. Responds to routine service requests, facility emergencies, and critical operational issues while following established safety policies and procedures.

This role performs minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and welding-related repairs; utilizes diagnostic tools, meters, gauges, blueprints, and schematics to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions; supports specialized systems and equipment; collaborates with contractors and internal trades; and assists in maintaining uninterrupted facility operations in support of patient care and organizational objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Mechanical training and 1 year hands on job related experience in repair of stationary or mobile equipment required.

  • Must have a mechanical aptitude and computer knowledge.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
  • Five (5) years experience in mechanical repairs, including electrical and plumbing trades is preferred.
  • Operation of tractors, forklifts, bucket trucks, high lifts and other types of equipment preferred
