Job summary

The University of Nebraska at Omaha seeks a Plumber/Pipefitter to install, operate and maintain campus plumbing systems across a multi-building environment in compliance with state and national codes. The role is under general supervision in Facilities Management and Planning.

Ideal candidates bring at least 5 years of installation experience, a Journeyman license (City of Omaha or UPC), backflow certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum of 5 years experience in plumbing installation with similar services.
• Valid City of Omaha Journeyman Plumbers License or Uniform Plumbing Code Journeyman License.
• Backflow Certification.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Preferred Associate Degree in related field; similar Military experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair plumbing systems including potable water, drains, waste, vent systems, low pressure steam lines, chilled water lines, hydrants and backflow preventers.
• Assist in repairs of fire protection, domestic water mains, and respond to natural gas leaks.
• Work on sinks, faucets, water closets, flush valves, water heaters, water softeners, pumps, etc.
• Perform preventative maintenance in assigned areas.
• Provide locating services on campus using locating equipment.
• Participate in new and remodel construction design reviews and inspections.
• Respond to emergency utility repairs after normal business hours.
• Read and understand blueprints, construction plans and utility plans.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, provide technical installation,operation and maintenance of University Campus plumbing and pipefitter work as it relates to general buildings plumbing and pipingsystems and those systems characteristics to a college academicmulti-building environment while complying with State and NationalCodes and Regulations.

Install and Repair Plumbing Systems

Installing and repair of plumbing systems which include but notlimited to potable water systems, drains, waste, and vent systemsand associated equipment, low pressure steam lines and traps,chilled water lines, fire hydrants, and backflow preventers.
