As a Plumber, you will install, repair, and maintain piping fittings and fixtures involved in the distribution and use of water and waste systems in City buildings in accordance with best practices of the trade.This position will be filled as a Plumber I or Plumber II depending on the qualifications of the slected candidate.Duties include:Trouble shoot, perform repairs, and install plumbing fixtures and appurtenances such as but not limited to sinks, toilets, urinals, drinking fountains, water heaters, domestic recirculation pumps, lift stations, waste and water service supply systems to maintain working orderUse proper drain cleaning equipment to clear stoppages in waste systemRepair, maintain, and monitor sewer lift stations systemsClean and maintain grease interceptor devices and maintain FOG manifest recordsCorrectly operate hand and power tools, following all safety procedures and regulationsTest, maintain, repair and install back flow prevention devicesReview blueprints and document necessary commentsDocument daily records of all work in a clear and concise mannerProcess work orders and all necessary paperwork upon completion of requestPlan coordinate and schedule sequence of work operations within the Plumbing department and between other trades, branches of the city, private contractors, and vendorsSupervise and assist subordinate employees within the Plumbing departmentObtain labor, material and other related costs for job quotes from departments within the City, private contractors, and vendorsClean, maintain, and keep truck organized and properly stockedMaintain a daily job activities records book in a clear and concise mannerSet up and break down for special eventsPerform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties describedIndividual assignments will be determined and assigned by the supervisor based on current workloads and departmental needsThe ideal candidates will be skilled in installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing fixtures and systems in both commercial and residential settings.This job posting is open until filled. Must have a current and valid driver’s license.Plumber II Minimum Qualifications: Combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience in plumbing; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. • Must have or obtain a Backflow Prevention License within one (1) year of employment. • Must have a current and valid driver’s license.Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
