Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach is seeking an Engineer to join the Engineering Support Division QA/QC team, reviewing CIP infrastructure projects for compliance with City, State, and Federal standards.

The position may be filled as Engineer I, II, or III depending on qualifications; responsibilities include reviewing preliminary reports, plans, cost estimates, calculations, and overseeing consultants during QA/QC reviews with the City Engineer’s Office.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field.
• Associate’s Degree with six (6) years of progressive experience in engineering work may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans and studies for infrastructure projects, including design calculations and cost estimates.
• Oversee QA/QC reviews by consultants for Public Works CIP projects and coordinate with other departments.
• Prepare and manage engineering studies and design standards compliance.

The selected candidate will perform a variety of duties of a complex nature related to reviews of preliminary engineering reports, plans, as-builts, construction cost estimates, specifications, calculations and computations in accordance with the City, State, and Federal standards and specifications and the Public Works Design Standards Manual.
