Job description

Pay Range

This range is provided by Notre Dame of Maryland University. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $55,000.00/yr - $60,000.00/yr

Responsibilities
  1. Makes complex problem diagnoses and performs repairs and maintenance services, or installs, a variety of mechanical, plumbing, heating, or energy generation equipment.
  2. Handles complex problems requiring advanced training and extensive experience using sophisticated diagnostic methods and innovative repair techniques.
  3. Performs duties to maintain and repair plumbing equipment throughout the University, including installation, modification, and repair of piping and components.
  4. Interprets drawings, sketches, piping layouts, manufacturer’s catalogues, and instructions to complete work.
  5. Plans and layouts work, takes measurements, determines material requirements, and makes calculations.
  6. Installs and maintains piping systems for various services, including steam, air, water, gas, and chilled water lines.
  7. Performs operations such as measuring, cutting, bending, threading, welding, and insulating pipes.
  8. Conducts system and equipment inspections and maintains relevant logs.
  9. Recommends improvements or repairs and reports faulty operations or defective materials.
  10. May install non-metallic or corrosive-resistant piping under supervision.
  11. Recommends spare parts, maintains inventory, and obtains parts and equipment properly.
  12. Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school or trade school diploma required; valid Maryland plumbing license required.
  • Minimum five years of journeyman-level experience in residential and commercial plumbing.
  • Must possess or obtain a Maryland pool operator’s license within one year.
  • Knowledge of environmental handling, safety procedures, and ability to work in various conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift tools and materials up to 100 pounds, work indoors and outdoors, and perform physical tasks such as climbing and stooping.
  • Position involves potential exposure to infectious materials; vaccination and training are required.
