Job summary

Tessera in Anchorage, Alaska seeks an experienced plumber to join our team, delivering maintenance, installation, and repair of plumbing systems across water, sewer, gas, and related equipment. The position is full-time, day shift, on site, with a robust benefits package and opportunities for professional development.

Responsibilities include backflow certification, reading drawings, ensuring UPC/UMC compliance, and maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of plumbing experience.
  • Municipality of Anchorage plumber license preferred.
  • State of Anchorage plumber license preferred (Journeyman level license preferred).
  • Alaska certificate of fitness required.
  • Backflow Tester (BAT) certificate for Alaska preferred.
  • Journeyman plumber's license preferred for maintenance on backflow preventers.

Responsibilities

  • Test, certify and repair backflow assemblies.
  • Maintain, repair, install, inspect, remove, replace, and modify plumbing equipment and components across water, sewer, swimming pools, inert gas, natural gas, air vacuum, compressed air systems, steam, and POL equipment.
  • Remove blockages from interior and exterior drains within contract lines of demarcation.
  • Adjust, repair or replace leaky joints, faucets and outlets to maintain proper operation of plumbing systems.
  • Install or repair domestic, industrial and commercial hot water heaters, fixtures and components.
  • Install or replace water, air, natural gas, sewage and water/storm fixtures.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Conduct winterization and de-winterization of facilities.
  • Apply all code requirements (UMC and UPC).
  • Ensure installations are properly sized, aligned, and meet environmental protection requirements.
  • Utilize maintenance devices to record service and repair activities.

Compensation: $50.49 - $50.49 per hour

Tessera is seeking an experienced and hardworking Plumber with a positive attitude.

Typical Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Test, certify and repair backflow assemblies.
  • Maintain, repair, install, inspect, remove, replace, and modify all plumbing equipment and components for water, sewer, swimming pools, inert gas, natural gas, air vacuum, compressed air systems, steam, and POL equipment.
  • Remove blockage from drain lines, both interior and exterior sewers within contract lines of demarcation, floor drains, fan coil units, air handling units, stacks, vents, and storm drainage systems.
  • Adjust, repair or replace leaky joints, faucets and other outlets as necessary to maintain proper and efficient operation of all related plumbing and steam fitting systems including, but not limited to, hot water systems, chilled water systems, potable water systems, compressed and vacuum air systems, valves, inert and natural gas systems, and other associated systems, equipment and components.
  • Install and repair domestic, industrial and commercial hot water heaters, hot water storage tanks and plumbing fixtures, equipment and components, including commodes, urinals, kitchen and utility sinks, water fountains, frost-proof hydrants, showers, bathtubs, lavatories, shower pans, garbage disposals, dishwashers, fan and air handler coils, valves, pumps, and associated equipment and components.
  • Install or replace and connect water, air, natural gas, sewage and water/storm fixtures such as sewage lines, water closets, lavatories, showers, sinks, gas heaters, stoves, air compressor equipment, shop hydraulic vehicle lifts, cooling towers, grease traps, garbage disposals, dishwashers, floor drains, condensate and drip pans, circulation systems for heating and cooling systems, and associated equipment and components.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Conduct winterization and de-winterization of facilities to prevent damage to systems and sub-systems.
  • Apply all code requirements during installations, repairs, and maintenance to include UMC and UPC.
  • Ensure all requirements are met as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements.
  • Utilize mobile maintenance and inspection devices to maintain a record of all service and repair activities to include ultrasonic and thermography.
  • Must be able to operate company-provided vehicles, trailers, and lifts, gas and electric-powered small equipment.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain required tools and special equipment.
  • Must maintain and wear PPE as required.
  • Read and understand drawings, work plans, and maps.
Qualifications

  • Personnel inspecting, testing, certifying, and making recommendations for corrective action for backflow preventers shall be certified per UG-2029-ENV and have a Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT) certificate for the State of Alaska.
  • Personnel performing maintenance on backflow preventers shall have a journeymen plumber's license.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
