Job Summary

Boiler Technician at Tessera located at Anchorage, Alaska – Joint Base Elmendorf‑Richardson.

Location & Schedule

Full‑time, day, swing, and grave shift. Anticipated start date: August 25, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance on boiler equipment and systems.
  • Maintain low‑pressure, high‑pressure, power, steam, or hot water boilers.
  • Replace defective valves, filters, or steam gauges.
  • Monitor boiler systems for safety and proper operation; facilitate periodic cleaning.
  • Test water systems and treat water with chemicals as needed.
  • Maintain and update records for boiler operations.
  • Repair boiler systems and address problems.
  • Report dangerous equipment or safety violations to supervisor.
  • Clean and maintain mechanical rooms.
  • Maintain, repair, install, inspect, remove, replace, and modify plumbing equipment for water, sewer, pools, inert gas, natural gas, air vacuum, compressed air, steam, and POL equipment.
  • Remove blockages from drain lines, interior and exterior sewers within 5 feet of building, floor drains, fan coil units, air handling units, stacks, vents, and storm drainage systems.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace leaky joints, faucets, and other outlets to keep systems efficient.
  • Install or repair domestic, industrial, and commercial hot water heaters, storage tanks, fixtures, and related equipment.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain required tools and special equipment.
  • Install or replace water, air, natural gas, sewage, and storm fixtures; assist preventive maintenance on plumbing systems.
  • Understand code requirements and manufacturer specifications for installations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance and repair records; read drawings, work plans, and maps.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of commercial plumbing and ability to use hand tools, power tools, and appliances for installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing fixtures and pipes.
  • Municipality of Anchorage boiler operator license required.
  • State of Alaska boiler operator license required (Fireman or Apprentice level). Third, Second, or First-Class boiler operator license preferred.
  • Alaska Certificate of Fitness required.
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • Reach, kneel, walk, stand, and perform repetitive motion for several hours.
  • Stand or sit for several hours, climb in and out of vehicle, stairs.
  • Work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
  • Physical demands may be accommodated on a case‑by‑case basis.
Other Requirements
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain Tessera insurance coverage.
  • REAL ID‑compliant driver’s license or acceptable alternative for federal installation access.
  • Background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
